Jamie + Lawrence’s Wohelo Camp Wedding | Raymond, ME

Where. To. Begin?! This one was SO special. Jamie and Lawrence celebrated their first anniversary this past weekend and we’ve been reminiscing about their day ever since. Not only have we been lucky enough to work alongside Jamie as she photographed many of our Client’s weddings throughout the years, or fortunate enough to have her capture countless family memories through portraits, but I’m truly blessed to call this fabulous woman a close friend. Jamie is endlessly funny, her laugh infectious, her heart kind, and her love for Lawrence is one for the ages. Their day was overflowing with love of friends and family. They are truly surrounded by a most incredible tribe.

These two created a nostalgic summer camp wedding with their closest at Wohelo Camp. They laughed, cried and danced more than I’ve ever seen. They soaked up all of the love and kindness from their guests to radiate light and happiness throughout every moment of the day. It was beautiful, and we’re so grateful to be sharing it today.

These two beauties met in 2014 through mutual friends and instantly hit it off. “It sounds cliche, but I knew immediately when I met him that I would marry him,” said Jamie. “I just had a feeling.”

Lawrence’s first impression of Jamie was that she was beautiful and funny, and it didn’t take long for him to ask her to join him on what would be the first of many dates.

“He took me on a tour of his town, ending at a beach which is still our favorite beach in Maine. We take our pups there all year round,” explained Jamie.

After four years of adventures and building a life together, these two decided to take the next step in their relationship. The proposal was the sweetest surprise and took place at their favorite location: the beach where they spent their first date and many days thereafter.

“It was September but warm, and he asked if I wanted to go to the beach for a swim,” explained Jamie. “I said I was probably okay with swimming since it was almost 70 degrees… Lawrence jumped in the water, went back to our bag for his towel – as well as a ring! He got down on one knee on the beach and asked if I’d marry him.”

These two are a match made in heaven and it was so fun to help them do this thing so good. We collaborated with them from the beginning, ensuring the venue would be the perfect fit for their plans for the wedding weekend. Jamie knew from the start that a striking invitation suite was going to set the tone for a fun and inspiring getaway for family and friends. She worked with none other than the talented team from The Chatty Press to tap into their expertise, as well as collaborate on designing Jamie and Lawrence’s custom details for the day. Jen played a huge role in creating so many incredible camp-chic inspired elements: invitations, custom badges, camp mugs, backpacks, welcome banner…you name it! We were blown away with the results, and there was one particular happy camper that was the most excited to receive this invite!

Although my babe wasn’t an official guest, she looooooved opening all the surprises inside 🙂 These invites passed the “exclusive camp” test with those badges!

As for the wedding weekend itself, things kicked off with the best summer camp: swimming, games on the beach and alllll the nostalgia. Just look at all this fun!

A bride can never go through the day without her girls by her side. Jamie had her best friend Courtney of Courtney Elizabeth Media as her Maid of Honor to support her the entire day.

This stunning bride wore a beautiful bohemian Rue De Seine dress with teal Swedish Hasbeens heels and an Emma Katzka headpiece to complete the look. She’s a true beauty, inside and out, and she absolutely glowed on her wedding day. Her lush bouquet complemented her look with an abundance of color and cascading greens.

This handsome groom wore a J. Crew suit and spiffy black bowtie. Can you sense the pure excitement as he waited for the first look?!

The raw emotion shared between these two in such tender moments is an honor to witness. This overwhelming joy was certainly the norm throughout the day, as Jamie and Lawrence embraced the love that surrounded them. We’re still not over these photos and are continually blown away by the talent of We Are The Parsons for capturing such bliss.

Jamie and Lawrence said “I do” in a stunning outdoor ceremony that was surrounded by towering spruce trees. We created a custom aisle with an assortment of wool rugs and added simple details such as bronze moroccan lanterns and lush florals adorning the trees thanks to Snell Family Farm. We let the natural beauty surrounding guests be the focal point of the design. It was truly a fairytale brought to life.

These two walking down the aisle hand in hand was a true testament to their personalities: strong, independent and deeply committed to those they love. Everlasting Light by The Black Keys played in the background as Jamie and Lawrence made their way to the alter.

And they’re married! Talk about pure love and happiness! We loved watching these two pronounce their love for one another, and I can guarantee you that Jamie was hardly the only one tearing up during the ceremony – there wasn’t a dry eye in the crowd!

One of my favorite things about these two? They KNOW how to throw a good party. Following the ceremony, guests made their way to the lawn overlooking the pristine lake for an extended cocktail hour filled with lawn games, hammocks – because why not! – and of course, a wide variety of local beers. Two signature cocktails were served as well: a Paloma designed for the Bride and a Dark & Stormy for the Groom. Guests enjoyed delicious appetizers of street tacos and chicken and waffle bites from no other than the crew at Fire & Co.

Can all of our Couples bring their adorable puppies to the wedding please?!

During cocktail hour, Jamie and Lawrence snuck off for some time alone and to enjoy their first few moments as Husband and Wife. I’ll just leave these pictures here for you.. because all I can say is WOW.

“We’re best friends. We’ve been through a lot together and we are each others’ rocks.”

Remember when I mentioned they were funny?! Personalities shining bright here!

We’re beyond lucky that these two do in fact have such wonderful personalities because it made planning their wedding that much more magical. We made sure their fun loving spirits and fashionable styles shone through in design elements throughout the entire day. We used a bright color palette of green, yellow and soft coral throughout the tablescape details and in florals, complementing the neutral tones of black and grey in the place setting. Cheers to our hand lettering artist Meg, for this creative take on camp style with their seating chart on our school house chalk board!

Beautiful farm tables were used for dining and were adorned with blush tabledrapes, yellow taper candles, an assortment of pears and lush jewel toned centerpieces. We created a woodsy, boho feel that made for the most intimate environment. The place setting consisted of grey and black china, brushed gold flatware, and vintage green goblets to add a pop of color. A charcoal napkin laid atop to complete the look.

The warm, inviting design may have drawn guests into the tent, but it was the food and heartfelt toasts that made them stay. Fire & Co continued to deliver a thoughtful, tasty meal complete with smoked chicken, hanger steak, summer grilled vegetables and brussel sprout salad. And do we even need to say anything about these toasts from the Maid of Honor and Best Man?! More emotion and love filled the room as they celebrated Jamie & Lawrence and reminisced in the many memories that made up their sweet love story.

Though a warm September evening, guests enjoyed a toasty bonfire after dinner, as well as s’mores and games overlooking the lake. Later in the evening, guests moved inside to the Snowbirds Dining Hall for dessert and a whoooole lot of dancing. This incredible cake adorned with figs, black berries and caramel was made by our own Abby Johnson 😍

Jamie and Lawrence kicked off the real party with their heartwarming first dance to Harvest Moon by the always impressive Bob Charest Band. These two set the mood for the night with their contagious laughs and killer dance moves!

This dance floor was absolutely infectious and these guests knew how to have a good time! Friends and family filled this room with energy and pure bliss as they danced, sang along with the band, and danced some more. Treats from Holy Donuts kept the crowd fueled for hours into the night. And the best part? Watching Jamie hop on stage to steal the mic and belt some tunes herself!

One of Jamie and Lawrences’ friends surprised them with fireworks over the lake to end the evening. The most perfect ending to the perfect day ❤

We are so wishing we could relive this sweet day over and over again. Pictures certainly help with that dream, but there’s even more fun and love captured in the video below shot by the talented We Are The Parsons. It does not disappoint, I can promise you that!

Not only have Jamie and Lawrence enjoyed one year of marital bliss, but they’re also looking forward to welcoming their first little bundle of joy into the world in two very short months. Get ready Scout, you’re going to have a little babe stealing the spotlight! We are so so excited for this cute little fam.

Jams & Pye, we will forever adore you and be inspired by your magnetic energy and contagious spirits. Thank you for allowing us to be part of this memorable day! Sending love and wishing you the very best on your adventure of parenthood together.

Xoxo, Paula
