Abby & Connor’s Wedding at the Bar Harbor Club | Bar Harbor, ME

Hello again friends!

Visitors of Maine are making their last trips of the season to all of the wonderful beaches along the Maine coastline while the weather is still warm.

Visits to the coastline for Mainers, however, is a year-round activity. Spring, Summer, Winter, Fall… the temperature and landscape may change, but the charm of the coastline is unwavering.

Abby and Connor’s wedding is a wonderful example of this. They were married in the beginning of September in 2022, at the edge of where Summer and Fall meet. It was a sunny day as a breeze quintessential to Maine rolled in from the harbor to keep the soon-to-be married couple and their guests cool beneath a perfect blue sky.

The way the sky even matched the color scheme that day was pure magic!

Three Words: Coastal. Maine. Elegance.

These were three words Abby herself used to describe her wedding and we agree a thousand times over. The love shared between her and Connor is undeniable and their day was so wonderfully them.

So without further ‘I-do’, let’s journey through these love birds’ fabulous Maine wedding and meet all the incredible vendors who helped make their special day!

Welcome to the Party!

Abby and Connor’s wedding weekend bash began with a Welcome Party and rehearsal dinner.

Friends and family had a moment to connect and get to know one another as they gathered under clear skies with the Atlantic Ocean as their backdrop.

What was the best part of the planning process?

The planning process was so smooth – it truly took a lot of weight off of our backs knowing we could rely on AFA to handle all the details, big and small. We were able to start the planning process early & I think that made a big difference as far as not feeling rushed/crammed in the last few weeks leading up to the big day.

AFA truly took our vision and exceeded all expectations as far as coordinating with vendors and making our ideas come to life in fresh and creative ways.

Later in the night, the sunset filled the sky and cast its golden glow. It was literally picture perfect; a great time for some pre-wedding portraits of Abby and her girls!

For dinner, guests were invited inside Bar Harbor Club for delicious Maine lobster and a buffet.

After dinner and several heartwarming speeches, the day came to an end. Time to get some rest for the big day tomorrow.

Cheers!

Getting Ready

Abby and her girls had a great time getting ready for the big day to begin. By the end, Abby was looking absolutely model status. Did we mention her shoes were something blue– and perfectly matched the color scheme of the day!

Likewise, the gentlemen were all smiles as Connor got ready for the ceremony.

Ready to Roll!

A Beautiful Day to Get Married

It was a perfect day for a wedding. The Atlantic reflected the blue of the sky in the backdrop as guests gathered for the ceremony.

The Bud Connection knocked it out of the park with their elegant florals. They matched the couple’s blue and white, Maine Coast-esque color scheme flawlessly.

What did you love the most about your venue?

Our venue was so magical! It was everything we were looking for – coastal Maine, classic, elegant, all encompassing. It was truly such a special place!

After the ceremony, Abby and Connor were able to have a moment to themselves to unwind after the ceremony and enjoy each other’s company before heading back to their guests. This was notably the couple’s favorite moment of the day and we’re over the moon happy to have been able to provide them this special time just for the two of them!

We know it is so hard to choose- but what was your favorite part of your wedding weekend? (If you can’t choose, feel free to tell us a few!)

There were so many favorite parts of our wedding weekend, but I think something I will always remember is being able to spend a few minutes with just Connor right after the ceremony before the craziness of photos and partying kicked in!

AFA made sure to coordinate this special time for the two of us & they had the idea to bring us to this balcony overlooking the entire venue and cocktail hour. It was truly so special to be together just the two of us looking down on the ceremony setting we had just experienced, as well as being able to see all of our friends and family from above. It was truly the most special, ‘pinch me’ moment of the whole weekend!

Hello up there!

Cocktail Hour

With a delicious charcuterie (including freshly harvested honeycomb) and hors d’oeuvres, portraits, and plenty of champagne- cocktail hour ensued!

What do you feel your guest will remember the most about your wedding?

The feedback we have gotten from our guests has been unmatched! Everyone has said it was one of the best weddings they’ve ever been to – from the venue, to the food, to the dancing and decor – truly every detail was noticed by our guests! I also think everyone could really feel a special ‘vibe’ of so much love and gratefulness throughout the whole day. It really was such a special ambience thanks to AFA!

Beautiful happy people!

Sunset, Dinner and a Dance Party

After a lively cocktail hour it was time for everyone to file into the reception space. Decked to the nines, the space was filled with small touches everywhere you looked. The ample greenery pulled the whole color scheme together perfectly, too!

Another unique detail you would like to share.

We had the coolest details tied in throughout the entire day! Connor is a professional hockey player, and AFA made the coolest seating chart, as well as found other ways to incorporate some hockey details while still making everything super ‘classy’!

We always encourage couples to include little pieces of them throughout their day, and this was no exception- we absolutely loved the idea to incorporate hockey details honoring Connor’s profession as a professional hockey player!

Dinner was served as the sun began to set. While guests fueled up to get ready to dance, the amazing Courtney Elizabeth seized the moment to take some sunset portraits of the newly married couple.

Any advice for couples on their wedding day or throughout the planning process?

Just go with the flow! We really tried to not get too stressed/worked up about the minute details as we tried to remember what the day was really all about, which was marrying each other. There are a lot of things that can come up or may not go according to plan (if this happened on our day, we never noticed!), but I think we really just tried to stay in the moment throughout the entire planning process and weekend so we were always grounded in why we were doing all of this to begin with.

The sun may have gone down but the party was just beginning.

The reception area transformed under the cover of night as guests ate and drank and positively danced the night away!

Of course, a wedding weekend this spectacular wouldn’t be complete without a sparkler send-off!

Abby and Connor, it was an absolute joy to meet and work with you both. Wishing you all the years of sunsets, hockey, and happiness!!
